Events
SBES Student Research Symposium
The annual Student Research Symposium is a student-run and organized event for students from both Wake Forest and Virginia Tech to present and discuss their research. Aside from participating students, symposium attendance includes both faculty from both campuses as well as industry representatives. Through this event, we aim to maintain strong connections between both student chapters and foster an environment to refine skills that can be applied at national conferences. The host campus alternates each year between Blacksburg and Winston-Salem.
BMES Annual Conference
The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) serves as the leading societal and professional home for biomedical engineering and bioengineering. The BMES Annual Meeting is home to more than 2,000 leading scientific presentations, a Career Fair, and numerous networking and career development sessions. The conference brings together researchers, students, and industry representatives from institutions around the world, providing opportunities for connections across other universities and organizations.
General Body Meetings
Each month, the Virgina Tech chapter hosts a General Body Meeting (GBM) centered around professional development, networking, or peer engagement. These meetings also include announcements and town hall discussions to keep graduate students informed about departmental announcements and initiatives.
Other Club Events
Students in the BMES chapter at Virginia Tech host and participate in a myriad of annual club events. Some of our recurring events include hosting an annual Valentine's Day Rose Fundraiser, volunteering as judges at the Blue Ridge Science Fair, organizing Halloween spirit week, and more! Each year, we look forward to creating diverse and engaging events for our members.
